Born in KY, Ms. Gilliam moved to CA when she was 8 years old, grew up in San Diego County, and now lives in Riverside County in a small town called Aguanga -- near Temecula, CA. She's participated in AKC activities since 1997 when she bought her first AKC-registered Labrador Retrievers, which her dad bred in KY. She is an AKC Breeder of Merit, which the AKC proudly promotes. Ms. Gilliam is also a CA licensed attorney, which imposes a high ethical standard of conduct in all business matters. If you purchase a puppy from Ms. Gilliam, you get: (i) AKC registration certificate and 3-generation Litter Certificate; (ii) 15-digit ISO Microchip registered with AKC Reunite for life; (iii) 2-3 Nobivac Canine 1-DAPPv puppy shots; (iv) 2-3 deworming treatments as needed; (v) minimum guarantee to 12 months of age on puppies against genetic defects; and (vi) lifetime support and advice. I started showing and breeding dogs in 1998 when I moved to an area of East San Diego County called Blossom Valley, hence my kennel name. I had about 12-acres purchased in 1987 and built a house in 1998. One day, I attended a Gold Coast Miniature Horse Club show in Lakeside, CA and decided to buy some. I found a breeder near me named Kasey Mando of Arabay Ranch and Ultra Quest Show Dogs. I drove to Kasey's that day and bought my own 4-month-old miniature horse whom I named Arabay's Captain Azule ("Blue"). Later, I bought 3 Labs from Kasey and eventually Jack Russell Terriers (now called Parson Russell Terriers). Kasey is the person who started taking me to horse shows and dog shows. Kasey is still around and is one of my few lifetime friends. To reduce my work commute to Rosemead (140 miles each way), I moved to Aguanga, CA in 2010 (100 miles one way). In 2013, I decided to retire. RETIREMENT IS BETTER! I now live on 4.8 acres with my dogs, alpacas, pygmy goats, mini horse, miniature donkey, a peacock, and Guinea fowl (they kill baby rattle snakes). My dogs go out into dog runs during the day and sleep inside at night. I try to minimize genetic health defects in my puppies by doing Embark Labs DNA tests on my breeding dogs. Embark tests for almost 300 genetic diseases with one cheek swab! All my breeding stock are EMBARK tested unless cleared by parentage.
