Chinese Crested

Dina Fischer lives in Connecticut and breeds Chinese Cresteds. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask the breeder. Make sure you are not only choosing the right breed for you, but also that you’re getting it from the right individual. I’ve been involved with dogs my whole life. The first time I ever saw a Chinese Crested was in 1990 or 91 in New York City. I was working in Mid-town Manhattan and I remember coming out of a deli and straight into this person holding a hairless. My heart just stopped! I had never seen or heard of this breed before that moment. I was struck at her appearance; she reminded me of a little pony!! I thought to myself that I would love to have one! My love of showing dogs started in 1990 when I brought home my first prospective show puppy, which was a Chinese Chow Chow. While Max did not have the correct conformation to finish his championship, I really enjoyed showing him and was left with that feeling! He lived to be 13 years old. In 2000, I brought home another prospective show puppy, this time a Standard Poodle named Sonny and the rest is history! After Sonny came into my life and his show career was short lived, I brought home another Standard Poodle, Luna, in 2003. Luna and I were very active in the conformation ring until she was diagnosed with Sebaceous Adenitis in 2005, where her career was cut short, but she lived the life of a princess in my home, until the ripe age of 14. Sonny lived the life of a prince! He lived to be 15 years and 3 months. While I was involved with showing Sonny and going to the dog shows, I again saw this Chinese Crested breed and I was reminded how I felt when I first encountered them. That was it, the next addition to my family was going to be a Chinese Crested! In 2005, Canadian Champion Romford Resident Evil “Phineas,” my first Chinese Crested Powderpuff, joined our family! While he was a little too big to be shown in the US, he became my little man! Phineas lived to be 15 1/2 years old. In 2016 I brought home my Jupiter, my first Chinese Crested hairless girl; Yorkhouse Jupiter Ascending! As it turned out, Jupiter does not like to show!! LOL! At this point, I am batting a thousand!! LOL! However, her daughter, Venus is my very first AKC Champion “CH Soluna Jewels Goddess of Love and her other daughter, Stella, “CH Soluna Stellar Moon” is my second AKC Champion!” So while breeding is relatively recent for me, my involvement with dogs and conformation has been almost 30 years long. On a more serious note, I carefully evaluate any breeding that I am considering. I research the pedigrees and look to always improve my lines. I NEVER breed just to have puppies. It is always about the right match to produce the next generation of champions! My core family pack is 5, just the right size! All my dogs are maintained on a raw food diet and receive vaccines according the the Jean Dodds, VMD protocol.
