Delaware Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever was chosen as the first state dog of Delaware in 2016 for one year. It’s no surprise that families in Delaware love Golden Retrievers with a passion. This is an extremely popular breed in Delaware because of its gentle, docile, and friendly nature. While they were originally bred as waterfowl retrieving dogs in Scotland, Goldens love kids and make excellent family pets.

Once you have brought a Golden Retriever puppy into your Delaware home, you’ll have to ensure the general health and wellness of the dog. Your Golden Retriever will have a double coat that is prone to shedding, so you’ll have to perform regular brushings to prevent matting.

Golden Retrievers are energetic dogs and do well in families with kids because the dog and kids play together and exhaust each other out. Goldens do well with children of all ages and can be particularly protective and patient with young children. That’s the reason many Delaware families feel comfortable allowing young kids to play with their Golden Retriever unsupervised. But you should always monitor the child and dog when they are getting to know each other.

Because Golden Retrievers were bred as hunting dogs, they are easy to train and follow instructions well. They also make excellent emotional support dogs because of their smartness, gentleness, and docility.

If you live in a coastal area in Delaware, your Golden Retriever will love being in the water. This breed is a natural swimmer and loves being around water. On the other hand, if you’re an apartment dweller in Delaware, a Golden Retriever may also be the perfect breed for you since this dog is not a big barker.

All in all, a Golden Retriever is a terrific choice for Delaware and can adapt to many different lifestyles and households. This is a gentle, friendly, easily trained breed who is mild mannered and gets along well with others – both humans and dogs.

Golden Retriever

English Cream Golden Retriever Breeder raising quality puppies in northern Delaware. We strive for excellence by breeding healthy, loving puppies with sound temperaments. We are a small family breeder and are passionate about Goldens. We believe healthy, happy dogs produce healthy, happy puppies. Our dam and sire are beloved pets and members of our family. Our puppies are born in our home and they are raised with children, other pets and lots of love. Our family specializes in bringing your family joy through a purebred, AKC registrable puppy. We believe young puppies should have the opportunity to develop emotionally, socially and physically from the moment they are born. We do early neurological stimulation (ENS) from day 3 -16 and continue socialization until they go to their forever homes. It is believed that ENS enhances a puppy’s development. These exercises were developed by the U.S. Military for their canine training programs to give the dogs a superior advantage in life. There were five benefits observed in canines that were exposed to the stimulation exercises: improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate), stronger heart beats, stronger adrenal glands, greater tolerance to stress and increased resistance to disease. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask the breeder. Make sure you are not only choosing the right breed for you, but also that you’re getting it from the right individual.
