Who is the homophobic dog?

If you’ve heard about the “homophobic dog” and are wondering what the fuss is all about, here’s the lowdown.

The homophobic dog is an alias for a white dachshund called Whitney Chewston. She shot to fame when an image of her with the caption “not too fond of gay people” went viral.

But here’s the thing. Whitney Chewston the homophobic dog is not homophobic at all. It was a tongue-in-cheek post that gave birth to countless memes and made the homophobic dog a star. She has her own Instagram page with over 200,000 followers.

The original viral post was followed by more captions like “just saw something LGBT” and “f slur” that only stoked the fire. She was featured in posts such as the one where she is wearing a pride scarf and looking suspicious with the caption “not thrilled.”

The truth is that the homophobic dog, who is a self-proclaimed diva dachshund, lives with her two dads (yes, they are a rainbow family!) in Scottsdale, Arizona. We can’t be sure, but Whitney’s dads may well be a growing tribe of people who make dogs replacement children.

The homophobic dog’s pronouns are she/her/hers. The phrase the homophobic dog hears most is “I’ve never seen a white one before.” Her favorite quote is “Low to the ground, close to your heart.”

More recently, perhaps as a form of damage control, the homophobic dog has started to express her real views with captions like “fond of gays” and “love is love.” She has been featured wearing matching pride sweatshirts with her dads and has publicly thanked LGBTQ+ activists for their work with the community.

Even though there’s been a shift in the homophobic dog’s attitude, her popularity has continued to grow and has lasted more than the proverbial 15 minutes. If you’re her newest fan, then maybe you want to check out her merchandise line that’s available at https://www.whitneychewston.com/
