Who Let the Dogs Out Meaning

Who Let the Dogs Out is an immensely popular song that topped the charts in many countries around the world. Performed by the Bahamian band “Baha Men,” it is the cover of a song originally titled Doggie, written by Anslem Douglas and sung by Fat Jakk and his Pack of Pets (aka Jonathan King). The cover version by the Baha Men was released in July 2000 and made them a one-hit wonder.

But while the lyrics of the song continue to be wildly popular more than 20 years later, many people don’t know the real meaning of the lyrics “Who Let the Dogs Out?”

Interestingly, the lyrics of the song have nothing to do with letting a dog out without a leash or harness. They also don’t have anything to do with leaving the yard gate open by accident.

Indeed, Who Let the Dogs Out has nothing to do with our furry, four-legged friends at all.

The song is in fact about men being disrespectful to women. The writer of the song has said that when men start calling women disrespectful names at parties, women respond by calling men dogs. And that’s what the song is all about.

So, it’s actually a man-bashing song. If you read the lyrics of Who Let the Dogs Out carefully, it will all make sense.
